An outstanding hunt from the past
I have been fortunate to have spent a great deal of time in the woods and on the water in my time. I have witnessed things that many people will never have the opportunity to see. The hunt on this day would be one of those special days!
Here is an exceptional hunt from the spring of 2015. I had located this bird with Chuck Gibson that morning and My good friend Rick Edwards roosted him for us and ended handling most of the calling. The hunt took place over the span of an hour and a half. I would guess the bird gobbled over 200 times that morning. There was some really interesting interaction with a couple hens and the gobbler. Hens actually ran to him to be bred. Most of the time his head and neck was solid white, top to bottom…..That means maximum sexual excitement in turkey terms! The old tom had 1 1/2″ spurs and weighted 19.62#…A SEED! This was one top notch hunt!
A late season hunt with Tristan and Crystal Pendergrass that yielded a truly exceptional Tom. This bird would rank #97 in the NWTF record book with 1 5/8″ & 1 9/16″ spurs and an 11 1/2″ beard! A big bodied bird that would have likely topped 20# at the beginning of the season. Congrats to Tristan on Taking one Awesome Osceola!
This was a hunt I guided for my new friend Steve Elrod, TN. This was Steve’s first leg on his journey to complete a slam in one season!
A Solo, Self filmed Osceola Hunt by my good friend Rick Edwards, March 2015.
